This Estie series, the nickname for Esterbrook, is a tribute to the brand and its history. The Estie series exudes a sense of nostalgia of the 1930s, a time when fountain pens were an integral part of communication for most people.

At the turn of the 19th century, the artist Alphonse Mucha was at the height of his career.  A fine artist, whose name is now synonymous with the art nouveau style.

In 1887, the invention of celluloid film paved the way for Mucha to become the first artist to work directly from photography. Thusly, his color palette was often the rich, warm, pastel tones of photographs and he used these hues to create Mucha women with flowing hair that matched the flourish of his gorgeous lettering and typefaces.

Within this range of color emerges a signature eau de nil blue that Mucha used to clothe the women in lush drapery, illuminate the skies behind them, give them wings and surround them with waves of water.

The fountain pen is equipped with a #6 JoWo steel nib. The Estie fills via standard international cartridge or converter (included).

Note: JoWo is transitioning their nib designs from the old scroll pattern to a more simple design. Stock is currently mixed; what you receive may not necessarily match what is photographed.

In 1858, entrepreneur Richard Esterbrook in Camden NJ founded his pen company under the trademark Esterbrook Pen Company, which quickly became one of the largest and most beloved pen makers in the world. At its peak, Esterbrook was the largest pen manufacturer in the United States with 600 employees.

It is therefore not surprising that much of American history has been written and created with Esterbrook pens. US Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation with their Esterbrook pens.

Famous Disney artist Carl Banks brought Donald Duck to life with an Esterbrook No 356. Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz used the No 914 for all of his comics. Meanwhile, millions of students have grown up learning to write with Esterbrook pens, aided of course by visionaries and artists using Esterbrook.

Today, Esterbrook resides 120 miles north of his original home at Kenro's headquarters in Mineola, NY.
