Lamy's roots go back to 1930 when C. Josef LAMY founded his own company in Heidelberg called Orthos Fountain Pen Factory. At the beginning of the Second World War, more than 200,000 ORTHOS and ARTUS brand fountain pens are produced annually, and his knowledge and expertise about this writing instrument is growing. However, it is the LAMY 27 fountain pen that made a breakthrough on the market in 1939. With this, LAMY definitively establishes its name.
