Sailor Fountain Pen Pro Gear Slim Princess Raden - Ochikubo

Princesses have been loved and admired throughout the ages. Sailor Pen is releasing a collection of fountain pens with designs inspired by princesses from Japanese fairytales. They are truly unique fountain pens featuring iconic motifs and colors from each fairytale, intricately expressed with beautiful mother-of-pearl and “yubi maki-e” on the barrels and caps.

Princess Ochikubo lived with a wicked stepmother and mean stepsisters, having only a handmaiden on her side. The kind handmaiden arranges for the princess to meet a major general, and they fall deeply in love. The couple marry and live happily ever after.

The set also includes a matching ink bottle and converter in a luxury gift box.

In 1911, the "Sakata-Manufactory" was founded by Sakata and his brother with the production of solid gold nibs. In 1917, the Hamadacho factory moved and the company name changed to "Sailor Pen Sakata-Manufactory Co., Ltd," and fountain pens were added to their production. The company reached a turning point on May 27, 1926 when Prince Imperial Hirohito visited the factory. This was a great honor for a small company and The Sailor Pen fame.

Shortly after World War II, Sailor was the first in Japan to launch ballpoint pens, which became a major trend. In 1954, the Sailor Pen Company invented the ink cartridges, which they introduced in 1958. In the years that followed, Sailor regularly introduced new fountain pens, such as the pocket, the Fude. In 1973, Sailor's popular series (#11-506) won the Japan Consumers' Association first prize.
